HIDDEN MANHOLES

Good Morning, On three occasions last week we had to expose manholes that had been covered over by Homeowners! Two of them were hidden under patios. These were easy to expose but the third manhole was under a laminate floor in a conservatory. The Customer had moved into the property not knowing that there was a manhole under the flooring. Washing Machine/Dishwasher Isolation valves

Today we ask you to take 5 minutes to check the isolation valves to your washing machine / dishwasher. This is the valve that usually has a red/blue lever on it and can isolate the water supply to your appliances. It can usually be found behind the appliance or under the sink. Over the last several weeks we have been to several properties where these valves have failed and the homeowner has found the room with the appliance flooded! HELP!

We received a call from a Lady who was distressed as the drain in her garden was blocked. She told me that she was in her eighties and her husband used to unblock the drain but he had died last year. I told her not to worry and we would get a technician out to her that morning. We turned up and the Lady wasn’t at home so we unblocked her drain anyway, it was full of fat! I called the Lady and she said that she had forgotten that she had to go out that morning and thought that the drain had unblocked itself! She offered payment over the telephone which I declined. We all have our ups and downs but the feeling of gratitude from that Lady was better  than getting paid.

Buying A Property

If you are buying a property have you ever considered getting the drains surveyed? If the drains are damaged you cannot see it. Most home buyers surveys involve the lifting of a manhole cover to inspect the manhole but it does not go any further. Commercial Urinals

If your company has a lot of male employees at its premises the drainage from the urinals could be blocking with uric scale!

We attend several factories, warehouses, delivery centre, pubs and offices where the Gents urinals are used frequently. The scale builds up in the waste pipes and eventually blocks causing flooding in the toilets. If the Gents toilets at your premises have a smell of urine in them or it has been reported that the urinals when flushed are taking longer than usual to clear it could be due to a build-up of scale in the waste pipes.
